Janie’s World

A Bit about The Janie McGetrick Theme Park Mysteries

FRAMED AND BLAMED

Theme park manager, Janie McGetrick, unfairly catches the blame when Glinda the Good Witch’s parade float crushes her boss. Fired and out of work, she is desperate to find someone who will overlook her notoriety and give her a chance for redemption. All Janie wants when she attends an Orlando Chamber of Commerce luncheon is to do a little low-key networking, but men wielding chainsaws abduct her and the guest of honor from the luncheon. Turns out, it’s a publicity stunt for the under-construction Worlds of Darkness theme park—and more publicity is so not what Janie needs. It’s also a prelude to a job offer. There’s one tiny catch. Janie must allow Worlds of Darkness to exploit her notoriety. With no other options, she accepts. Bad move. Turns out someone is trying to kill her new boss.

FAKES AND MISTAKES

Despite the fact that Janie McGetrick’s bosses keep dying, a desperate manager at Once Upon a Time theme park hires her as a consultant. A South American group wants to buy the park and turn it into party central for massive Quincineras. If she doesn’t succeed in saving it, Janie can add corporation-killer to her boss-killer reputation. As she tracks the source of counterfeit bills eroding the park’s profitability, she must also choose whether to cooperate or compete with the park’s security chief. Problem is, Janie can’t decide whether he just might be her Mr. Right or he’s involved in the crime. When more than one manager dies, it appears both Janie’s hopes for a relationship and success at Once Upon a Time are doomed.

FLYING AND DENYING

Five years after Janie McGetrick caught the blame when Glinda the Good Witch’s parade float crushed her boss, a court order forces Land of Oz theme park to reinstate her. Janie wants to prove to that she’s an asset to Oz. Even more, she wants to prove to herself that the bad part of her life is over, and there will be no more dead bodies. And for sure, no more dead bosses. But before her first day back on the job ends, Frank, her boss, is dead from a gunshot wound. An ironically named hurricane Frank is ravaging Oz and preventing the authorities from arriving to investigate the murder. This leaves Janie’s ex-boyfriend, the park security chief, in charge of the preliminary investigation. He believes Janie’s involved. Janie is sure she can convince him she’s innocent—until she finds the murder weapon stashed in her car.
